LONG WAY HOME
A dynamic one-woman show created and performed by Erin Healani Chung, LONG WAY HOME is a personal, poignant and hilarious exploration of Native Hawaiian identity and the meaning of home and belonging on Hawaii Island. A love letter to home and a tribute to the importance of following your dreams, LONG WAY HOME follows Erin as she struggles to fit in as a “nerdy, kinda precocious kid” growing up in Hawai’i to her relentless pursuit of a career in acting in New York City and all the way back home to Hilo. Erin is honored to be joined by guest musicians The Hilo Honeys and to be graced with a very special performance by Pomai Conant-Longakit.
A Hawaii Island native, Erin is an actor and theater collaborator. LONG WAY HOME was created as part of a year long fellowship with support from Vibrant Hawai’i and One Nation/One Project. It debuted at the Hilo Palace Theater on July 27th, 2024 as part of “Arts For EveryBody,” the largest public art campaign in American history. Erin remounted LONG WAY HOME at the Palace on January 25, 2025. Click here to view a full-length recording presented by Na Leo TV. |
